My husband had a MRI and we have no idea what the printout is saying would like to know if any1 can help us?

This means that your husband has degenerative disc disease which happens to every person as they age but not everyone has herniated disks. Your husband has a small disc at Lumbar3-Lumbar4 which is the low back region. A larger herniated disk protrusion at Lumbar4-Lumbar5 and there is some pressure on the Lumbar 5 nerve root which could be giving him some radiating pain on the right side back of thigh and sometimes down the leg. Your need to discuss with his doctor what the MRI report means. Take the copy of the MRI to the doctor's office and have him explain it to you. Usually, non-steroidal anti inflammatory is given and the patient is referred to a physical tharapist. Often, the therapist will use some modalities, patient education in posture, body mechanics and exercises to relieve the pain. In most cases that is all that is needed. If the patient develops severe weakness in that leg or develops bowel or urine incontinence then it is critical to see a physician immediately. An orthopedic physician and or a neurologist can tell you in detail what treatment you husband will require.
