Stolen items / what should i do? ?

I recently stole two computers and they traced it back to my home. I confessed that I had done it and that it was because i got weak at the moment and the opportunity presented it self. So I was charged with grand larceny 4th (items over a $1000) and having possession of the stolen items, which they took back. What does this mean? The detective said being as it was my 1st time doing anything bad and being only 19, he said not to worry. Will I get jail time? I'm thinking of getting a lawyer to have this all cleared away and not have a record. I know I was stupid to do it but now I don't want this to affect future things. What should I do?
