Where is manhattan, redondo beach & Hermosa beach in relation to Santa monica?

im staying in santa monica for 5 nights, are these beaches close and more importantly worth seeing? Im probably not going tobe back in the states for years to come and dont want to miss out on anything. we are coming over from new zealand and have just got a mortgage so it will be 20 years before we get to come back.
