How to use a cakewalk microphone?

i bought a first act cakewalk microphone that plugs into the usb port in the computer and i cannot figure out how to use it. does any one know how to use it. i always try and record myself but when i press play back i cannot hear my self what i have sung. i have the volume all the way up i just dont know how to record
